Hollywood Costume Exhibition

London's Victoria & Albert Museum has a fascinating new exhibition running from now to January 2013 on iconic Hollywood costumes. This ground-breaking exhibition includes over 100 of the most iconic and unforgettable film characters from a century of Hollywood filmmaking, 1912–2012.

Above: those cowboy outfits which say so much, from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Right: Tippi's green suit from THE BIRDS. There are also of course those ruby slippers and that gingham dress as worn by Dorothy in THE WIZARD OF OZ and the dress made from the curtains for Scarlett O'Hara in GONE WITH THE WIND. Below: Indiana Jones' - yes, that word again - iconic outfit ...

I have written here before about favourite costumes on favourite stars, Costumes label ...
The V&A website has full details.  They are not just clothes on stands but are cleverly exhibited with background information which  illuminates the process of designing a character from script to screen with the costume designer as part of the creative team. Most of these on show have not been displayed in public before. It should be a very popular exhibition.
