Another Hollywood blonde !

And now: Mitzi Gaynor ! Mitzi is still going strong in her 80s - there are enjoyable video clips of her television spectaculars on YouTube, and this jolly interview with her on her Fox years:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1owHeDEUW4.
Dancing with Gene in LES GIRLS

Her biggest role of course was in SOUTH PACIFIC - how we loved that back in 1958 and its fun looking at it again now, but she only did a few forgotten movies after that with David Niven, Yul Brynner and Kirk Douglas. Her last film was in 1963 but she re-invented herself for theatre and television, like Debbie Reynolds she is a Hollywood trouper. Mitzi is a great mimic too, its hilarious listening to her taking off Ethel Merman or Marilyn ...lots have said Doris Day should have played Nellie Forbush, but Doris would surely have been too familiar, whereas Mitzi is ideal here while Brazzi and Kerr are total stiffs ...
She is marvellous though opposite 2 of my favourites: Marilyn in THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS in 1954, and Kay Kendall as one of the LES GIRLS in 1957.  Here's to Mitz !
She's gonna wash that man right out of her hair ...
