Greta's Mata Hari ...

A nice shot of Greta Garbo (those legs...) as MATA HARI - 1931, an amazingly stylish film and just maybe my favourite Garbo - apart from QUEEN CHRISTINA and NINOTCHKA of course. I like her Rhumba in TWO FACED WOMAN too ! She wears some amazing costumes as Mata and Ramon Novarro is the ideal foil for her. A delirious drama then - how I love those Garbo's and Von Sternberg Dietrich films.
(Jeanne Moreau's 1963 MATA HARI is an interesting contrast too - and totally different, Moreau label.)
Now for some more 1930s highlights: De Mille's SIGN OF THE CROSS and Claudette as CLEOPATRA !, plus those Tyrone Power & Loretta Young co-starrers.
(I haven't done much on Garbo here, we will have to rectify that ...)
